Concerning the live concept of the mainly electronically produced EP with it’s simple and short tracks Moriel has teamed up with Stephanie Weninger (keys & synth-bass) and Raphael Vorraber (drums). In multiple jams they’ve worked out an instrumental implementation of the tracks and have created a unique sound, that leads the music in a way back to the three artists’ shared free and creative jazz-roots, whereas not losing any of it’s uniqueness in the process. Subsequently the idea was born to add a project-related varying fourth musician to bring new colours into the music and create a continuous change and advancement. Following hiphop-rooted Paul Male, now Andreas Tausch (guitar) joins the trio, who is alongside his main doing in the jazz field a stylistically astonishingly diverse musician. The music of sweet life has since refined itself already. Besides reggae-vibes, dub-effectes, JDilla-beats and worldmusic-elements it opens up to sheets of free improvisation and avantgardistic sound paintings.
the artist
The enjoyment of combining and experimenting with different genres and the desire for creating her own music has had a strong impact on Yvonne Moriel’s career. Starting out with a focus on classical music her interest only later developed towards improvised music. In 2016 the saxophone player started her jazz-studies at Musik und Kunst University Vienna and in 2019 she decided to fully concentrate on a career in music. While playing concerts all over Europe, many national and international festivals and her work with artists and bands of different genres such as contemporary jazz band ChristophCech JazzOrchestraProject, suspenseful OnQ-collective, the hiphop and jazz connecting Yasmo & die Klangkantine, indiepop-bands AVEC & Yukno, highly successful producer Filous, Ralph Mothwurf Orchestra or the renowned Franui ensemble, the artist has put her focus increasingly on the creation of her own music.
