Intended as a project in-between genres, a same-titled EP has served as a starting point for saxophonist Yvonne Moriel’s band sweetlife, which brings together 4 of Austria’s most promising up-and-coming young jazz artists. The music is constantly evolving and enhancing ever since, it’s still influenced by it’s starting point but has turned into a very different sound. Jazz is mixed with dub-effects and electronics, free improvisation meets complex rhythmical pattens and hiphop-influenced beats. Freshly formed, the project was in December 2022 presented to an international professional audience at Austrian Music Export’s Kickjazzfestival at Porgy & Bess and shortly after had it’s debut at renowned Jazzfestival Saalfelden. 2024 it was selected as New Austrian Sound of Music -Act for 2025/26. A first EP will be released in November 2024, followed by an Album in 2025.
