YVONNE MORIEL

Saxophonist and composer Yvonne Moriel is currently based in Vienna and certainly plays at the forefront of Austria’s creative young music scene, in 2024 she also received the Austrian Jazz Award. Her music is rooted in improvised and contemporary music, combined with a creative curiousity and openness to different influences. She is continuing to build a name in the international jazz scene through her fresh approach to music and distinctive artistic voice, exciting collaborations and projects, that are starting to turn heads all over.
In 2022 she founded her project sweetlife where she fuses Jazz with Dub and Electronic and is currently touring through Europe, America and Asia. She is also part of internationally successful bands like Shake Stew, Nothing Causes Anything, Christian Muthspiel’s Orjazztra and has played with renowned Swiss Jazz Orchestra. She has been honoured with different scholarships and commissions, like the Austrian Composers Association SKE’s Annual scholarship, the JazzIt Salzburg Residency 2025, a Commission for the Opening of the MainStage at International Jazzfestival Saalfelden 2026, Cormons Jazz Residency 2027 and more.
